Monju Hunters of Sōfugan Island - Russian Version

Now here it is the Russian version of our short film "Monju Hunters of Sōfugan Island". I don't understand a word, but I love this synchro version so much. :) It somehow adds a new layer of authenticity to the whole thing. Many thanks to Futuroom_Show for making this possible!!! Kudos to the great voice actor!

Flying Scorpion

"The ancestors of this small animal once rose from a life on the ground into the air by jumping to catch prey from the air. Evolution caused the legs to become a kind of gliding wing system by elongated hairs that interlocked like a bird's feather." ...I don't know if this makes sense, but I thought walking on tail and claws was a funny idea. :)

Alicanto

A mechanical, gold-seeking Alicanto bird made by a dwarf smith... or something like that. 😆 Digital painting in Photoshop over a scanned pencil sketch.

Rhinogoat

A not even that strange animal for this creature design challenge, for which I am making a few entries this month. But I'm not working on all topics.

Animated Short: Monju Hunters of Sōfugan Island

The animated short film that I made together with my friend Karim Eich was finished in 2016 is now available on YouTube in full length! It has been featured on short film channels such as CG Meetup, CG Bros and several others and has been seen by many thousands of people since it's now online. I'm really excited about all the positive feedback we've received!

It was my final thesis at the Bauhaus University of Weimar in 2016, and we worked on it together for two years (2014-2016). Later, our great sound team Michael Holz, Ludwig Müller and Jonathan Ritzel and the composer Martin Kohlstedt did it really great in the end. It was a great time, we learned so much.

I'd like to make more of this world one day.

Beer Pixy - "Broxkel"

A commission for "The Dark Eye" (Das Schwarze Auge) Pen & Paper game by Ulisses Spiele.

He's a little pixy who likes to nestle in brew kettles. His beard consists of beer foam and he is well over 1000 years old.

Mongolian Eagle Hunter

A quick contribution to the Character Design Challenge on FB. This month's topic is "Mongolian Eagle Hunter". Unfortunately I noticed it too late. So I left the PC aside and I drew a quick picture with ballpoint pen yesterday morning.

Deathbird

A little personal painting so I don't get rusty. I wanted to give some color to a creature from my sketchbook. It would be possible to go further with the rendering, but I think I've captured the idea. Maybe I'll build it in 3d if time permits.

Troll

I was in Norway in April. I drew this on the outward flight. Breathtaking landscapes there and great myths.

Schleich Eldrador Creatures: Cavebear, Battlecrab and Ice Spider

Since 2 years I have been working for the German toy manufacturer Schleich on the new Eldrador Creatures series. Together with the great art department of Schleich I designed some new figures and modelled them for the production. Three figures I have worked on are already available for purchase. If you are already in a toy store, take a look at the Schleich shelf. More creatures will follow.

With the release of the creatures, I can now show some of the material. I will post them in chronological order of creation.

The fine details must be greatly exaggerated in the model so that they remain clearly visible during the production process.

Final Toy

The originally rejected stone collar concept was later realized by another artist at Schleich.
